I can't close my eyes and make it go away

In 1983, a mulleted Bono stood on this very spot, waving a white flag and singing a song he insisted "was not a rebel song." The song was "Sunday Bloody Sunday", the place was Red Rock Amphitheater in Colorado and the video in which U2's lead singer prances around between fires lit near the stage made the band famous in the United States. That live Red Rocks video had to have been played about a million times on MTV.

I kind of felt like a fed-up Irish Catholic sick of U.K. rule when I stood on the spot, even though I'm protestant and I was wearing a pullover with the word "ENGLAND" emblazoned on the front.
